DYSH

Have you ever unfollowed someone on multiple social media platforms due to the horrific amount of food posts they upload on the reg? On a Sunday night, huddled up in front of the ever so comforting Netflix font displayed radiantly on your laptop or TV screen, when the pockets of your wallet are practically sobbing - I think it’s safe to say that the last thing you want to scroll over is YET another post from that person. That person who figures every bite of a burger or pizza or waffle or ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING EDIBLE in all honesty is worth sharing with the masses. Or maybe you don’t experience this gag-worthy phenomenon at all, I hope you never do.

After doing a bit of research, I stumbled upon one of the most fascinating food platforms to date, a photo food app called Dysh. Founded by four food-loving YouTubers with a drive to make a change in the way regular food photography and posts are viewed on social media, this app has boomed with success! Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart and Ingrid Nilsen created Dysh to ensure viewers could follow:

  • other users,

  • what and where they’re eating,

  • restaurants and cafes in their own area that other users have rated.

You can also explore community based hash-tagged posts such as SLICESLICE BABY of trending pizza posts or HOW TO GET AWAY WITH BURGER -- which is pretty self explanatory.

The four food stars have partnered with multiple US hunger organisations to prioritize food insecurity. The app works off a "give more, get more" strategy, so that the more you browse, post, share, like and follow, the more points you earn. The creativity of the concept means that a certain amount of points gained to reach a new status results in a meal donated to feed the hungry. The higher your status, the more meals will be donated. So if you want to boost that food ego of yours without feeling any guilt, get your photographic talent to use and download the Dysh app!
