FABLETICS

I know what you're thinking and no, this is not going to be a post where I make you feel guilty about this week's exercise routines or pilates sessions that you said you'd attend and then didn't. This is a little more interesting and a lot more positive than that!

Fabletics is in fact a fitspo clothing brand and no, I’m not advocating that you hit the major seasonal sales or waver your mouse over that hopeful shopping basket icon resting neatly on your home page right now. Bless your soul, if your mouse is actually scrolling over your local bank page calculating how much you’ve saved this month. At first glance, this site looks just like another black hole of celebrity endorsement campaigns tied in with a bunch of tall skinny, modelesque looking women showing off their toned bodies in some over detailed, oddly distracting fitness gear.

Helpful hint -- unless you really do want to buy some funky patterned leggings, skip over the ads and take a look at the styles of workout vids Fabletics has released. If you’re watching your time carefully and don’t have much to spare, Fabletics showcases dance routines from Latin or  Bollywood to Hip Hop and Pop, ranging from only 4 to 10 minutes in length. The routines are crafted for anyone, so don’t sweat the difficulty, figuratively.

It gets better. If you can't be asked to preview a 10 minute long video and just want a quick look at what you'd be in for -- around 15 seconds, (yes, second), videos are uploaded on the reg. These snippets give you some quick workout ideas and some perky looking woman on screen to show you visually if you can’t quite grasp the meaning of how to perform a “Russian twist” or “Starfish”--God knows I didn't. The Fabletics YouTube page also offers videos focused on strengthening parts of your body and building your basics. If you’re at a more advanced level of fitness, these vids prove a great way to cool down post workout and prevent injury.

What drew me in however, was not the overly colorful leggings or helicopter like movements of blonde ponytails but the ongoing initiative of breast cancer awareness Fabletics had launched last year. With Kate Hudson as the face of the project, Fabletics has teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America to initiate the consumerism of a new breast cancer awareness line. The proceeds went toward cancer screening and treatment. Take a look at their charity based initiative for some in depth information about proceeds, donation strategies, the corresponding clothing lines and guest charity speakers:
